At Deykin Avenue School, the teaching of Spanish takes place in KS2 (Years 3 to 6) and is based on the National Curriculum. Many of our children are already bi-lingual and so enjoy these lessons!
Through songs, videos, and lots of practise, children learn how to have a basic conversation with someone in Spanish. They listen carefully to the pronunciation of words and phrases and then repeat what they hear. Children also develop their skills when reading and writing basic Spanish phrases, especially when they have had a lot of verbal input in Years 3 and 4 and move into Years 5 and 6.
