Hello to the New Year 6 children!
Remember me? That teacher who taught you for Maths last year and nagged you about doing your homework a LOT!! Yep, It’s me – Miss Bullock and I will have the pleasure of teaching you all in September, along with Mrs Latif.
I know last year didn’t end in the way that any of us would have liked, but at least I got to know you for part of the year so I guess you’ll have an idea of what to expect and so will I!
This year will be different, however – you won’t be swapping around like last year. You will have me (and Mrs Latif) for ALL subjects. This means I’ll get to teach English again which I’m pretty excited about actually. I know that some of you are great writers so I look forward to seeing what you can all do.
Year 6 is a year that needs you all to work really hard, and behave well – setting an example to the younger children. We will have quite a bit of catching up to do, and we will do everything we can to help you to do the best work you can, and to leave Deykin Avenue with all the skills you need. You can expect fairness and respect from us, but we will also have that expectation from you.
We get to do some great topics in Year 6, including The Caribbean, William Shakespeare, Titanic and Ancient Greece. Remember all the great projects that the Year 6 children did at home last year? I reckon you can all produce some amazing work like that and we can’t wait to see it!
Talking of homework… (Sorry – I’ve started already!!!) It’d be great if you could do something at home to bring in for us in September. It could be a summer diary, or a project on any subject you’re interested in. You could even do some online revision to get you in shape. BBC Bitesize has some great activities for you to do. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/levels/zbr9wmn
Things may look a little different in September, and we may have to change things according to government guidance, but whatever happens – please know that we are really looking forward to welcoming you into your final year at Deykin Avenue. Have a great summer, and we’ll see you soon.
Take care & stay safe over the summer,
Miss Bullock & Mrs Latif
